Revealing the Moat

At the back of the chateau there is an old moat running along two sides of the back garden area. It really has become very overgrown with weeds, brambles and dead trees. So we gave Igor the task to start clearing all around the edge of the moat and also inside it before the water starts to build up again now that the weather is changing.  In the spring when I came to have a second look at the chateau the was a lot of water in the moat - see the top photos. However with the hot summer the water has disappeared

and the weeds and brambles have grown like crazy. At some point in the distant past there was a wall all around the moat but about 80% of it has now long gone as you can see in this photo from the

springtime. It would be great to re build it and then be able to keep water in the moat permanently but this will have to wait until the chateau is finished and bringing in plenty of money! Igor did a great job with the chain saw and strimmer, clearing all along one side - it looks absolutely amazing  now. 

Once it is all cleared we will rotavate it all to remove the roots of the weeds and ivy and  then sow grass. It should be a great feature that will look amazing. Michelle & Juliana have been working hard the last two days clearing all the ivy off the bottom of the walls at the back of the chateau and it is really looking so much better as you can really see from this last photo.
