Shutters & Windows

As the first set of shutters have now been repainted today I removed another eight from the courtyard area. Thankfully the bolts and hinges came off quite easily and they were soon ready to go off to the sandblasting firm. Now I will also start sanding down and repainting the windows. This is a much longer job as most of the windows are made up of many small panes which take a long time to rub down. The only way to do the tricky bits is by hand. The main part of the frame can be done with the belt sander
and this is very quick work. Another problem with the windows is that many are broken and the putty is old and falling out. It will most likely take at least two days to refurb each window. Lucky we only have about 60 in the whole chateau! Progress with the first window was also slowed by the rain which has been on and off throughout each day recently.
