Goodbye until the Spring

So after two months of hard work today we locked up the chateau for the winter. We have made it watertight and fixed so many things over the last weeks. Today with the help of Mark, our carpenter we securely closed all of the windows and shutters. Over the years that the chateau has lain empty and neglected many of the windows and frames have moved or dropped slightly meaning that most of them did not close properly! However with a skilled hand and a wood plane Mark teased them all back into place. It was nice that the sun was out all day, the rain nowhere to be seen! The chateau looked beautiful in the winter light, the sun just getting ready to set as I drove away. Quite sad knowing that I will not be back for several months but really pleased with all that we have achieved. A really big thank you to all who have helped - you know who you are :)
