Shutters

The chateau has about fifty windows and around two thirds of these have shutters. They are probably about 250 years old, made from solid oak and have been painted several times over the years.   We send these shutters away for sand blasting and they come back amazingly clean and ready for repainting. Today all I did was take down 10 shutters and remove all the cast iron hinges from them. It was hard work in the hot sun that was for sure! Now they are all stacked away in the van ready to go.
