Jaw droppoing

Renovating this chateau really is like living the dream. It is very hard work but each day is just a pleasure. For a little while now Michelle has been taking off all of the plaster in one of the rooms in the middle wing. This room was always quite ugly in my view. It was dark and the plaster on the walls was old, awful and falling off in a few

places - check out the first picture. Every time I go into the room now I am totally amazed at the transformation that has been achieved just by removing the plaster and exposing the original 16th century stone walls. Even though we have not
repointed them yet they are stunning.  The room now looks lighter and so much nicer. I can only imagine how it will look when we have finished it. We have also exposed the large stonework that surrounds the windows and doors. It is hard to imagine why anyone would have wanted to cover up such lovely features. The 3rd photo gives you and idea but does not really do it justice.
