The worst room

Today we made a start on what is probably the worst room in the chateau in terms of damage and condition. It was apparently a nursery for the last family that actually lived in the chateau. It is on the second floor and the walls and ceiling are in a pretty poor state. The plan is that eventually it will be my bedroom! So we set the demolition boys, Eduardo & Klaus to work in it. Pretty quickly we discovered 

another rotten beam, again due to the leaking roof of years ago. This time it was more of a concern as there are two other roof beams that are supposed to be supported on it. Mark the carpenter was here so he took a look and will replace it next week. Luckily we do have quite a few spare oak beams that are in great condition. 

We also set Mark and Oscar to work in ripping out the bathroom fittings in the adjoining tower room.  We are progressing very well so far, with everything taking less time than I expected - long may it continue!
