Thank you Sébastien

Whilst we were all taking a break our local farmer friend Sébastien was hard at work clearing the edge of the fields around the old wall.  Many hundreds of years ago there was a stone wall completely surrounding the chateau lands. A lot of it still remains and sadly a lot has also fallen into total disrepair. What is still standing
has become overgrown to say the least. In places it was 5 to 10 metres deep in overgrowth, thorn bushes and small trees. Sébastien has cleared all around the 7 hectares of fields and it has made such a huge difference. Now for the first time since we bought the chateau we can at last see great lengths of the wall.
We can now get up to it and clear the edges and where necessary repair the wall. Also we have now been able to get a close look at some of the mature tress the grow on the edges of these fields. We have oak, horse chestnut, lime, walnut and pear trees. Sébastien has also cleared all of the weeds in the fields in preparation for the planting
of the grass next month. Soon he will plough it up and level it all. We are so looking forward to this as it will transform the grounds. Also cleared was another side of the lake which has made an immediate difference. Lots more work to do in this area but we are getting there!
