Wall repair

Mark & Michelle have been working on one of the walls in the courtyard area. We are working our way around the outside of the chateau whilst the weather is warm and repairing / repointing the stone work. Where it is 

damaged by damp or just broken stones we are making repairs. Quite often this involves taking out a lot of the stone work and then rebuilding it. It is very satisfying when a bad area is restored to its former glory! Many of the large blocks are also damaged. 

Some just by age but others where the iron hinges for the shutters have broken the stone. We hopefully have a stone mason coming round to show us which can be repaired and also how to repair them! I am pretty sure that we will be replacing quite a few as the damage is pretty severe in some cases!
