A new look

This week has been a massive one in terms of changes to the land around the chateau. Firstly we had the area around the lake cleared and landscaped. Then it was the turn of the grass track from the old gate and the ditch that runs alongside it. What a difference a couple of days makes!  The field is now level all the way across to the ditch and the track has been cleared of all the holes and bumps. Now ready for the new seed to be sown. The ditch has been cleared and all of the old tree stumps dug out. Next year we will plant an avenue of trees along there.

Also the wall around the chateau is getting a further clear out, 

hopefully this will now allow us to keep it clear and slowly start repairing it where it has fallen down or broken. It seems like we have a huge job on our hands to return this chateau to its former glory but with each step we edge closer. Some steps are small and take a while to show results, overs are big and show improvements very quickly.

The approach to the old gate itself has been cleared and levelled meaning that for the first time in years it can now actually be opened. However the left pillar is quite unstable and leans slightly so that will need some attention in the not too distant future.
