Plastering

This week with have had our plasterer Charlie with us. Another landmark period in the renovation. The transformation in the Bridal suite was amazing. Just watching the plaster go on and then dry out to totally transform this huge room was amazing. Looking back to how this room was when we first bought the chateau it is hard to recognise it. It had rough, stained and very old French monocouche plaster on the walls. Monocouche is a bit like artex only worse!
Last month we repaired all the cracks and removed a lot of the plaster from around the windows to reveal the lovely old stone blocks. This really made the room look great even with the monocouche still there. So now the new plaster is on we can start to see how this suite will be. It will have a huge bathroom in the tower as well as a dressing room / relaxation area adjacent to the bedroom. Charlie has also plastered this dressing room.

Now we have to strip and repaint the windows. Next spring we will have the shutters sandblasted and also repaint them. A nice new herringbone floor will be laid too - can not wait! The whole suite runs to 80 square metres - bigger than some apartments I know of!
