Weeding on an industrial scale

The main task of the last week has been clearing all of the weeds from the back of one of the barns. Last month we cleared this area of all the blackberry thorns and bushes. Of course it is not long before they start to grow back with all the other weeds and crap. The roots are so deep and the soil rock hard that the only way to tackle it properly is with the digger. Also there  is so much stuff buried in the soil, old tiles and bits of machinery that have just been dumped and left. This is a French attitude that I really do not get, how hard is it to clear your shit away after you do something! In the long run it just creates so much more work. Having spent the last few weeks getting more and more acquainted with the digger I think I am becoming much better with it. Pretty pleased with how I have levelled the area. I think that next step here is to construct some raised beds to grow veg and strawberries in! Will also plant some tomatoes and potatoes - becoming quite the little gardener.
