Clearing the ditch

There are ditches that run all the way across the chateau. They are there for drainage reason and one of the main jobs this summer is to clear out and dig out these ditches. Over the years they have of course been neglected like everything else here. Hence we had really bad flooding in the fields at the start of this year. Today I was just clearing around the edge of the small one that takes the water out to the main drainage ditches on the road. Later this summer this ditch will get very much enlarged.
