Clearing the jungle in the big barn

The worst condition building that we have is the large double barn. The previous owner renewed all of the roofs except for part of this building. For Years water has been soaking the old oak beams to the point that most of them are totally rotten and the roof has gone! Inside it has been getting more and more overgrown. So today was the day to clear it all. Before the summer is out we will put in some new supports to make sure that the existing roof does not come down too. We will also put in some gutters to take the rain water away. Eventually we will make this part of the barn into a spa and wellness centre leading out to the swimming pool. For the time being the plan is just preservation.

Surprisingly it did not take too long to clear the inside of all the weeds and small trees. The wheeled strimmer is such a weapon for these jobs. It cuts through this stuff in seconds. The trees all came down easily with the large branch cutters. By lunch time it actually looked like the inside of a building again..... almost!!
