The Barn Repair

So now the really big job starts. The repair of the barn roof and supporting beams. The lower half of this roof has gone, leaving just rotting beams and supports that are slowly falling down. If we do not fix this then the whole end of the good roof is likely to come tumbling down. Not what we need! We have to construct some block pillars to support the roof, replacing the unstable oak ones. Then we will put in new purlins from which we can then support the chevrons that hold up the roof. Finally we will then be able to repair the tiled roof of the gable end of this barn. First job is to dig a foundation trench on which to build the pillars.

Not at all bad, proud of that as it is my first attempt at a trench using the digger. Concrete and blocks are ordered and then we can get to work building the pillars.
